Number of student-entrepreneurs Ghent University peaks despite corona crisis

The corona crisis strikes hard in the entrepreneurial world. Still, the Ghent University student population was not discouraged to take first steps towards an own company. More than 135 students applied for the Ghent University statute of student-entrepreneur during the current academic year, a remarkable record.

We try to further support young entrepreneurial talent, with our pre-acceleration track Expedition DO! for instance. This programme, powered by Belfius and Upkot, guides students and researchers to grow from idea to business in the course of 7 months.

This and other entrepreneurial university initiatives have lead to stories of young and flexible entrepreneurs who changed direction or saw new opportunities in the current situation.
